About DCA

DCA-VET, Dutch Committee for Afghanistan – Veterinary Programmes, is offering veterinary aid to Afghanistan for more than twenty years. During those years, DCA-VET became a well-known and valued veterinary aid organization in Afghanistan.

0 A front cover (2).jpgTogether with similar organizations DCA-VET is committed to establish a nation-wide, sustainable system of veterinary field units (VFUs).

More than 150 staffs, based at the main office in Kabul and three regional Veterinary Support and Training Centres (VSTC) in Charikar, Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif, but also at Headquarters in Lelystad (the Netherlands), are working hard to realize this goal.

In the past twenty years, DCA-VET trained some 600 paravets and established 400 veterinary field units. However, our mission is not completed yet. There are still livestock owners lacking animal health care. And there is still no sustainable system of veterinary services in Afghanistan. Therefore, DCA-VET's commitment to the Afghan people remains unchanged. But the focus has shifted from paravet training and VFU establishment to sustainability of these VFUs and cooperation between private and public veterinary services.
